Years ago when I was a kid and we(my family,and a few uncles and aunts)used to plant alot of sweetcorn,the darn crows would come in and pull the seed.Dad used to shoot a couple,pound some stakes in the garden and tie(hang) the crows to the stakes until the corn got well on its way..always worked.They must not of wanted to end up in the same situation......??
