There used to be 2 types. Type A and Type F. Type F was for Ford until they changed to Dexron. Type A was everyone else. Dexron is what GM, Chrysler, etc use. I have no idea what FA is. I think Dexron can be used in place of Type A.
If there are no clutchs involved, either will work.
