Power Hookup?

Hi All,
I posted this before, but the solutions I got unfortuantely didn't work for me. However, I think I can better describe the situation now. I "inherited" an old Owatonna swather. I know it was working the year before I got it. It has a make-shift hookup. One cable goes from the battery to what I assume is the solenoid. The other seems grounded ok. There is no key, just a toggle switch. I tried to use a third cable to attach the battery's positive terminal with the toggle connection. I tried both connections of the toggle with no luck (although I must say that this made total sence to me when forum members suggested it). I can't use a screwdriver to start it as the solenoid is surrounded by many moving belts, etc. Does anyone else have any idea how I can hookup/start this thing??
