Use a water hose, stand back and put the hose on the hardest stream the nozzle will allow.The water dissolves the "paper" surrounding the nest, the water stream disburses the hornets and as they built the nest out of the elements, being soaked sort of demoralizes them. You can walk over and crush those that fall to the ground.

The nice thing about this method is there are no chemicals and a water hose is a low cost option.
I have a 100% success rate and have never been stung in the process.
