The best known chipping potato here is Maris Piper. The sad thing is, a lot of the newer varieties have sacrificed flavour at the expense of yield. My uncle grows a very high yielding Hungarian variety called "Sarpo Mira". They make nice chips ( French fries if you like! )are nice for roasting, mashing etc, but the real beauty about them is they are resistant to potato blight. Slugs don't seem to care for them either. They would make the ideal potato for the organic grower.
