Thanks for the plug Earl. I own the trailer we haul the raffle tractor in. With the help of Skip, ED, a few other guys and my wife we sell ticket the year prior to the show. There is a lot that goes into a succesfull raffle, but most of it is exposure and a good tractor. We take in about 12 to 15 shows and auctions with the tractor over the course of a year. Our most successful tractor was an Oliver Super 55 (15,000 tickets) the Ford 8N this year will be close. The John Deere 1010 next year probably will be too. Generally the expense runs about $5000 for the tractor, any repairs we make and the ticket printing. We tried an AC G once, but it didn't work because no one except the Allis collectors understood what it was. We also tried a Cub Cadet lawn tractor that barely cleared expenses. Selling tickets at just the show is a receipe for financial loss, you need much more exposure. Along with the raffle tractor we usually have hats, tapes models and other merchandise to sell and in the end we are there to promote our next show so we hand out a lot of posters and brochures.
