at raising $$. Been thinking of some ideas for fund raising was curious what your experience is.

Got a cherry little 38? or 39? AC B completely redone inside and out that might be a candidate.

Do you break even, make money or loose money?

Pls advise. Thanks

The Penfield show needs some more exposure; I have a hard time finding information on dates, etc... But the show is great; I've gone the last 3 or 4 years. This year I can't get there until Saturday. I like to spend a couple days there- it's a lot of fun. Keep up the good work!

In our club, the key is dedicated people. We're running out of them, so do only a cash raffle now- 1000 tickets, $5 each, cash prizes of 1000, 500, 100, 100, plus six at 50. Sell at the show and a few other events. Used to do one antique and two pedal tractors with dollar tickets. Biggest money raiser was when we had the A JD, sold 8300 dollar tickets by going to something every weekend for five months. Averaged about 200 tickets per day, best was 430. Local dealer gave us a good price on the tractor, members fixed and painted, no one got paid beyond trailer gas, and we had about $2000 expense. Now, help is hard to get.

Hi Shep, The I&I Tractor Club in Penfield, Illinois has a raffle tractor every year. It has been good profit. We have several men in our club that are really dedicated in taking the tractor around to auctions, tractor shows and any kind of function where they can sell tickets. We are featuring Ford this year at our July 13-16 show. They started 1 yr. ago on the 8n-9n Ford.and will give it away on July 16. They have the featured tractor for next year and it will be at the show with a sign telling it will be the raffle tractor next year. But they don't sell tickets on it until after the drawing on Sunday. But I give all the credit to this group that takes this tractor around the whole year before the show.I can find out what net profit they have. Thanks for the plug Earl. I own the trailer we haul the raffle tractor in. With the help of Skip, ED, a few other guys and my wife we sell ticket the year prior to the show.

There is a lot that goes into a succesfull raffle, but most of it is exposure and a good tractor. We take in about 12 to 15 shows and auctions with the tractor over the course of a year.

Our most successful tractor was an Oliver Super 55 (15,000 tickets) the Ford 8N this year will be close. The John Deere 1010 next year probably will be too. Generally the expense runs about $5000 for the tractor, any repairs we make and the ticket printing. We tried an AC G once, but it didn't work because no one except the Allis collectors understood what it was. We also tried a Cub Cadet lawn tractor that barely cleared expenses.

Selling tickets at just the show is a receipe for financial loss, you need much more exposure. Along with the raffle tractor we usually have hats, tapes models and other merchandise to sell and in the end we are there to promote our next show so we hand out a lot of posters and brochures.

Let me know if I can help Shep.

Shep, John and his group Ed, Skip, Ron are dedicated in making this work. Ed, & Skip, live in my hometown and anytime you see them they have tickets hanging out of their pockets and they always ask at the coffee shop ( have you bought your ticket yet???) Who knows how many miles John has pulled that trailer around the country to show the tractor. This is the type of leadership the I&I Club needs. Earl
