That stuff can and will happen, your very lucky you were stopped and not running down the road like I was in February. I have an F350 long bed 4 door and even as long and heavy as it is when this left rear tire blew at about 65mph I thought I was going to loose truck, trailer and all. Fortunatly I didn"t panic and just let out of it and coasted to a stop, then changed my drawers and after that the tire. The bottom picture is the tire that blew, I was kind and put threw it on the trailer rather than leaving it on the roadside like so many do. . .
