Try putting in high gear to turn over easier. Don't worry if the one side turns backward, it's just that wheel is slipping and the the other is pulling. That would be normal if the differential is working right. Soon as it starts, put the clutch in. Hope you aren't trying to start it without someone on it to put the clutch in.
