Not to be a pain. A very long time ago I was shown how to start up an "L" by a dealer. I was 14 at the time in 1964. With the strap on the pulley with one wrap you turn the pulley counter clockwise till you feel compression. Then wrap the rest of the strap. Stand in a partial crouch and pull upwards and fall backwards just a little at the same time. Like falling off of a log while your hands go up to your chest. This works on the first pull about 80% of the time on mine and it is easy on you. There is nothing like a self start but a hot mag is a beautifullllll thing! If you need more help then go for the self start. They do work very nicely. The small drive gear is a VERY wearable out item. Have fun. Jeffcat
