We need it tough and damp to bale out here because the area is so dry. If ya bale when the hay is completely dry it just crumbles like post tosties.

So what we do, is make sure the hay has cured, then grab the first dew or "near dew" that comes along.

We do edible beans the same way. Cut and windrow with the dew and then combine in the heat of the day.
