As I understand things, Iveco was/is a subsiduary of the Fiat group, the same as NewHolland. Iveco engines are used in several NH tractors today, particulairly under 90 hp. They seem to be a decent small disposable engine. When they're worn out, you dispose of them. On the largest engine maker, I don't have any current information.... but not so many years ago, Mercedes Benz was the largest producer of diesel engines in the world, followed I believe by Cummins, Cat and Detroit. I believe Iveco would be the most prominent power source in small tractors in Europe today, the same as Cummins/CDC are the most prominent power source in most larger ag and just about all construction equipment in North America today. It's a fair bet that if it isn't Cat powered, it's Cummins powered, except Deere equipment. I believe Mercedes has deep market penetration in Europe with both automotive diesels and truck engines, and the truck engines are now making a strong apperance in NA. Some how I just don't quite see where Iveco has that kind of hold to be the largest in the world, overall. Big no doubt, but not biggest, although I could be wrong. Rod
