I gotta go with old on this one! You say you had to do a lot of work to get her running - she just might be getting old and tired! I used to run a 9N for mowing (before I got an 8N of my own), never had a bit of trouble with a 5' hog. I mow several acres with my 8N and the 5' JD hog, the grass is ALWAYS over 20" - never have a problem! Your grass might be different. I grew up Ih and have 3 (H, M, 454), but wouldn't trade my Ford for nothing! It does most of the work around here!
