From reading alot of install instructions from several mfg's, there's less that 1% weight difference 4" behind the axle to 4" in front of the axle.

Me, I installed mine dead center and it pulls great. The only other thing you need to watch for on like a 5th wheel install is cab clearance in a jack knife turn.
