I don't think you can beat that combination unless you want to haul tractors around. If you make sure the front boots don't get punctured you can expect the 4WD system to work well for the life of the truck. My '95 4Runner has the earlier 4 cylinder, 5 speed 4WD combination and after 325,000 km it still runs very well. It is without doubt the best vehicle I have ever owned. It's still on its second muffler and I first changed the rotors and calipers at about 285K. It did need a gas tank last year, though. Good luck with the truck.
