Need help with kohler engine!

Hello. I have a kohler 7hp engine in a cub cadet that is giving me fits. Had it running last fall now I can"t get any spark to the plug. I cleaned and checked the gap on the points, the plug is clean and might as well be new. With the key on I have power to both sides of the coil and at the points. I"m out of ideas and I can"t find anything in my manual that I missed. Thanks.
