John has you covered on the wiring diagram. As he said, the diesel Fords were 12V right outta the box with a 12V generator. Maybe you thought it was a coversion because someone changed out the genny and replaced it with an alternator? Also, if you found the model and serial numbers, consider yourself one of the lucky ones. It seems like a lot of the 4 cylinder diesel Fords have no serial numbers anymore because of the battery location. Over the years, leaking battery acid drips on the s/n and eats it away. I've seen it on lots of diesel Fords.
