Before you tear it all down, consider this: You might have gasoline in the crankcase and vapor ignition blew the oil stick out and blew the oil pan gaskets. It could have removed the valve cover, if it had one. Too much "liquid" in the crankcase will cause a knock. I had a similar experience with a 6 cylinder Ford. Removed the excess oil and the knocking stopped. Friend of mine had a 390 Ford badly flooded. When it ignited, it blew off both valve covers. Drain the crankcase and see what you have.
