I have 10 acres of filberts and a boat load of California ground squirrels. Basically any way I can kill them is a good and I've found no particularly good ones. The best I've found so far is in the early spring as they first come out of their holes to 'feed' them. I drop a 1/2 teaspoon of poison grain in every hole. It reduces the population, but there are still plenty left. :-(
