We had an old neighbor that lived about 5/8 of a mile south of us. He didn't care much for cats so he didn't have any. Ground squirrels had taken over his front yard. He must have had a bunch cause when you looked out the window, you could see a half dozen running around at any time. We had a bunch of cats so they must have run short of mice. One old mother cat would go down to the neighbor's place, catch a ground squirrel, and drag it all the way home to feed her babies. She did this several times, but half the time another cat would steal her squirrel. She finally got smart, and moved all her kittens down to the neighbor's place. Within six weeks, she had taken care of all the ground squirrels. The neighbor decided that maybe cats weren't all that bad.
