Modified gasser story is a myth

What you say about the 6.5 being a modified gasser is pure nonsense. Back in the late 70s, GM DID modifiy the 350 Oldsmobile engine for diesel use and it was a piece of crap. That is why GM hired Detroit Diesel to design a new engine from the ground up - and that is where the 6.2 - 6.5 series came from - it is Detroit Diesel. Detroit designed it, GM later built it, and now some new company took over production to supply the US military.
