They are excellent tractors. I as well as quite a few others around here have 10000+ hours of reliable service. The lever to the left of the steering wheel is the PTO clutch. (the one you will catch your coat on gettting off the tractor) The lever to the left of the seat is the speed selector. Foreward is 540 center is neutral and back is 1000. For maximum clutch life whenever possible have the clutch engaged. (clutch lever foreward) If the fender lights are square and the tractor has 4 way falshers then it is 74+, if the fender lights are rectangular then it is a 73- model
