At that same time weed-control cultivation went out, as spray applicators came in. Wide-front row crops prolly became more prevalent. That was all-round progress.
OR WAS IT?.....
Nasty (only found out later) spray agents, etc, etc.
Underslung inter-row cultivators were, up to then, more accurate and easy to use.
So fairly complex to analyse, but 3 point linkage was there, available and easy to use....
