When to say no....

This weekend I am going to look at some "old John Deeres" that have been offered to me. They need restoration and are supposed to be complete. I was told they think ones a B and ones a G. Not sure. The man that owned them was going to restore them, got cancer, and unfortunately passed in November. His widow told me that she would just love for me to have them and restore them in his honor so to speak. I'm young, capable and have a little money because Im not married yet. So I think I can tackle this task. Do you start at scrap prices for something like that? She might try to give them to me but I'd like to offer her something. Regardless I wont take advantage of her, I was raised better. Also at what point do you say that isnt restorable and how difficult would it be to rebuild it. Any advice is appreciated. Also i have seen a rough 520 "southern special" in a vacant lot what do you offer for it? Thats my weakness is I see lots of potential restore tractors but have no clue where to start bargaining.
