I am out in the boonies too and got tired of hearing that broadband would get to me someday, so I got satellite. It's not as good as cable, but definately has it all over dial-up. I can do streaming and just about anything else I want. The thing to remember is that with satellite, you have about a 7 second lag (the time it takes the signal to travel to the sat. and back), so it's no good for things like internet phone and so on. On dial-up, it would take me most of 4 hours to download a 10 meg file. Now it takes me about 1 to 2 minutes. The cost was kinda high. It set me back about $500.00, but I consider it money well spent to avoid the frustration of slow and lost connections. The monthly charge is about the same as most other broadband services. Might be something for you to check into.
