Hi, I am a part-time farmer - have 20 acres of wheat that was planted in the fall. At that time the co-op spread starter fert including 20 lbs of urea. My dad used to topdress with nitrogen - (urea) in the spring in early March, but I've read a few articles where they say that it is maybe best to wait until mid-April to spread urea becasue the wheat may not need it until it gets a bit larger in size. The co-op says I should have spread it already or be doing it now. So here we are, APril 1...spread now or wait 2-3 weeks? I guess the concern I have is making sure too much nitrogen doesnt leach out this spring before the wheat can use it. I'll make one application with about 150 lbs of 46-0-0...cant do a split app this year. Your comments, please. JohnDeere720
