Farmall/IHC in late 20s switch carb float from cork to metal for use of Alcohal fuels- not widely common but was known in some areas, Midwest, southern sugar cane fields and Bermuda, some to Germany and France with large ethanol/ methanol production were mentioned. Industrial use where gasoline was a fire/explosive hazard- warehouse at docks where alcohal fuel was normally used on boats for cooking. Carburator adjusted rich, warm engine and manifold heat to help vaporisation. Aluminum would be suseptible to pitting and erosion by alcahol-Brazilian engines running ethanol tend to have iron instead of aluminum. RN
