I heard from a friend that his grandpa used to run his old farmall on moonshine or alcohol of some kind. I was wondering how he might ahve done this. thanks for any insight you all may have.

Farmall/IHC in late 20s switch carb float from cork to metal for use of Alcohal fuels- not widely common but was known in some areas, Midwest, southern sugar cane fields and Bermuda, some to Germany and France with large ethanol/ methanol production were mentioned. Industrial use where gasoline was a fire/explosive hazard- warehouse at docks where alcohal fuel was normally used on boats for cooking. Carburator adjusted rich, warm engine and manifold heat to help vaporisation. Aluminum would be suseptible to pitting and erosion by alcahol-Brazilian engines running ethanol tend to have iron instead of aluminum. RN

My Great grandpaapy used to run his F14 on moonshile that he made. When the engine was rebuilt about 8 years ago, the tops of the pistons were pitted real bad,and the sleeves were somewhat used up.

I forgot to say that I know for a fact that it was NOT distillate fuel like some of them were available with. My friend still has that exact tractor and it doesn't have two fuel tanks like the distillate ones did.
