Why do you want to clean them? The machine shop is going to clean them anyway. Unless they charge extra for dirty parts I'd say take them in as they are let them handle it. They probably have some kind of hot acid dip tank to take care of things like that. Why do the work when they'll probably do it for free? Unless you like doing it, which I can understand, let them handle it.
