As far as steam and your airport I don't think it will be a big issue.
There is one north of me about 20 mi and I can see the steam on a cold still morning rising about 500' just guessing.
The CR airport is about 2 mi south of the plant and has caused no problems.
They have more problems with hiway 30 that runs right past the plant and have to shut the hiway once and a while for the steam.
Unless its within 1/2 mi.and in your fly pattern I don't think it will effect you.
