Hi, I also have a M 444 and went to my Bobcat dealer and picked up the service manual for nearly the same reason. Anyway it says to adjust the float; with the carburator casting inverted and the float resting lightly against the needle in its seat, there should be 0.3125 inch (1/4 inch woth styrofoam float) clearance between the bowl cover gasket and the free end of the float (side opposite the needle seat. good luck, Tom ps. you can email me with any other questions. I also have an orifinal M444 operator manual and parts book. the part numbers do not match the current Bobcat numbers but the diagrams are great.
