Rented my first farm at age 16 and still farm today at age 48. Off farm jobs include.
Dishwasher 6mo.
Cook -kitchen manager 3yrs
Drummer in band 5yrs
Welder 14 yrs.
Electrician 20yrs

I did what ever I could to survive.I was married at age of 18 and had 4 girls before I was 27 so I had to feed them.
