A better idea might be to let the second cutting grow, then spray the field with Round-up. This will kill everything. You will need to wait at least six weeks, then disk it and re-seed with alfalfa. Alfalfa is auto-toxic, so new seedlings won"t grow until the old stand has been killed for a time. That"s the reason for waiting six weeks. You can disc the field as much as you want to exercise your tractor and end up with good stand of alfalfa. I have used this method with pretty good results. If you start spraying in mid June, you should be set to re-seed in late August. Good luck, Paul
