Hi Mike, We usually use oats as a nurse crop for alfalfa. By swathin' the oats just when they start to turn, not only does a guy get a kill on any weeks pokin' there heads up, but it also gives a jump on the alfalfa. With any luck, one gains a cutting off that new alfalfa crop. Allan
