The early IH used a two cylinder but they were on the same crank throw so it would fire every other revolution rather than the putput putput of JD they went putt putt putt putt. There were ballance issues with this single throw though. Then McCormick had a prototype that looked like a cross between a D JD and a 15-30 Mc-Deering. It had a big spoked hand start flywheel on the side. There were others too. An early Avery and Rumely I believe were two poppers and others of that era.
