'53 Golden Jubilee or 54'? 601 ???

Ok guys, I have decided on a Ford. But now, which Ford. The 53 Jubilee has power steering but needs paint, possibly tires and some other little things. The 601 looks VERY good, new tire, new paint, I mean it looks excellent. Except, the guy said the previous owner broke a tooth off a gear in the trans. How hard is that to fix. I am a mechanic by trade, so I guess I am asking are the parts expensive or hard to come by? Here's the two in a nutshell....
53 Golden Jubilee--$2300.00, ps, 3pt, needs paint, tires
54 601--2800.00, no ps, 3pt, excellent, needs a gear in trans.
