If you can't afford to buy them or ship them, how are you gonna afford to feed them? Free things tend to cost more than boughten things. My F-I-L In Southwest Wisconsin has to get rid of 2500 brown hens this month. He'll SELL 'em to ya for 2 bucks a pop. Any that don't sell for laying go to the Hmongs for butcher. They're one year old and certified organic laying hens. Organic is quite a racket, can't let the hens go through a molt 'cause the quality of egg goes down in the second year. I think it's a backhand way to sell him more danged birds every year.
