Freebird, If you are talking about a freeze free hydrant you might try slowly closing it and listening to see if you can hear the back flow of air as it drains down. The one next to my well got out of adjustment and would not drain down if the handle was all the way down. I had to stop the closing motion with the handle about 1/4 open position for it to drain down. I am just leaving it that way till spring. I dont want to mess with it at 12 below zero. ;-)
