Charging Problem 140

I put a new 6V battery in my 140. The charge indicator reads 14 on discharge side after running tractor for approximately 30 minutes. I notice when I turn on lights it jumps to 0. I did repolarize generator. Tractor runs fine after I �jump it off� but still drags when starting.

The tractor had the old battery in backwards(positive was not grounded) when I started working on it. The old battey would not pass load test. The past owner said he adjusted points in regulator because it was overcharging.

Any ideas??
