I've never seen 29ga sheeting that was rated to clear span 48" without 6" deep intrerlocking ribs and then I don't think it would be allowed in snow country as it wouldn't hold the snow load weight.

To answer your question, vertical seams on 2ft span sheeting overlapp one rib that seals the joint and overlapp 3" on each horizontal lapp. This is usually adaquote for sealing the sheeting joints.

I have wanted extra sheet tie down ability's and used Byutal caulk to spot hold the joints. Once dry you would need to cut the sheets apart to remove them as you can not get the joint apart using Byutal. So to make a repair then you would need to make some fancy SM work on the seams to replace one sheet.
