We had a customer with a Ford 2110 that was using heating oil while towing his blue berry field burner and the tractor would just quit then restart and go a while and quit again. it turned out the heating oil didn't have the lubricating quality needed to lubricate the injector pump plungers. He overcame the problem by adding fuel conditioner that added lubricity to the fuel. We also had a customer with an older Ford 5000 that complained about lack of power and excessive smoke with heating oil. I had him try real diesel and he was amazed at the difference.
