The TA is a high-lo shift on the go option that
IHC has. It works well, but does tend to 'go out'
or break a lot. It is not all that expensive to
rebuild, but it is 'the' weak link on an IHC
tractor, so it is most often mentioned. Often
times the 'lo' part wears out first, & the 'hi' or
straight gear set works fine for years, if you are
willing to live without the 'lo'.

When I said shift on the go up above, you
understand you put the tractor in a gear with
the foot clutch, then you may shift between
hi/lo on the go. You can't shift between the
standard gears on the go tho, only the hi/lo
part is on the go.
