We had a W4 that Dad got about the end of WWII. It was a great tractor, but could beat you up a bit on rough ground until you learned to stand and roll with the motion of the tractor. There were a lot of W6's and W9's sold in North Dakota where I grew up, because there weren't many row crops raised there in those days. They were pretty heavy on gas, but could do a lot of work.

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion.
