Here's a chance for you experts to educate a novice. I am fascinated by the "W" line of McCormick tractors (W4, W6, Super W6, WD-9) etc. Whenever I see one of these at a county fair or tractor exhibit I never fail to be impressed by the outward design. Beefy, stout, wide front, sleek fenders. The tractors appear to be "all muscle" to the outside observer. (We had a fantastic, workhorse Farmall "M" on our farm as a kid but I've never dealt with a "W" of any kind.)I had the opportunity to attend the Indiana State Fair last year and saw a couple of "Ws" (can't remember which model precisely) that had been restored to better than "show room" quality and my jaw just about dropped. I'd be interested in hearing more about them. Are they great tractors? Fun to drive? Capable and reliable? A farm favorite or a pile of junk? I realize I should probably be posting this on the Farmall board but figured I might get a wider range of opinion here. Looking forward to your views. I'm just somebody who loves old iron and would be delighted to hear more about this series of tractors from the guys who know what they're talking about.
