I have had experience with that type of
replacement wire. I cut the wire to length,
first. Then, stripped back the insulation so
that about 1/2" of actual braded copper wire was
exposed. This wire was folded back and laid
against the outside of the insulation.
The little pointed tip of the brass "cap"
was pushed into the braded wire, then the
cap was formed down over the outside of the
insulation. Since the braided wire was also
on the side of the insulation, the cap made
contact on it as well.
