July 1 2002 was the last time I smoked, until then 1-2 packs a day for 20+ years. Menthol's were my favorite. My 2 year old son was my inspiration, outside playing and I thought he was busy for a few minutes so I eased over and was lighting one and as I did I glanced at him and he had stopped digging in his dirt pile and was just staring at me. I knew right then I had to quit. I tried and couldn't do "cold turkey". Used the gum, store brand at Wal-mart, tastes like crap but so did cigs. Chewed it for over a year and then weaned off by switching to regular sugar-free gum. Now I have a fleeting craving ever now and then, but it is gone so fast I don't have to worry about it. PS: I had "quit" a hundred times before so don't give up if you don't make it this time. best wishes.
