Just went through that same problem. turned out the problem
was that carb vent to atmosphere was blocked. As soon as that
was opened, flooding problem stopped.

As the fuel flow in, air must be able to flow out. If air can't get
out, she floods. So poke around again and make sure no little
passages are blocked with crud, or covered up by the gasket
from the kit (it may not be exactly the same as original).
