When I was 17, I rebuilt the neighbors 1960 Plymouth slant six. Best project was placing a GM 350 in a 1990 Ford Ranger. It blew the four banger just 3 years from new- go figure! Swap was simple. The GM motor mounts with the GM frame mount support dropped on the Ford crossmember slick as ever. Welded in place after using a digital level. Used the Turbo 350 auto & Vega floor shifter. A '78 Chevy Nova drive shaft slipped in the trans & bolt right up to the Ford rear end to less than 1/4" of original placement at the trans side yoke. Lots of fun here. The guys in big Dodge 360s, GM Suburbans & Ford pickups used to try to 'muscle me' on I-75 north. A hot GM 350 in a Ford Ranger will get to that open lane first! I-75 north of Detroit, MI is well known for speedy travel up to northern MI. I remember back in the early 1970s seeing those huge Buick 225 Electras crusing at 85 MPH up north.
