The 5600 was most certainly the replacement for the 5000. A very brief overview of Ford Tractor Operations history will show that. The 6600 was a new model introduced to fill the gap between the 5600 and 7600. The model progression was from "thousand" series ('65-"75), "600/700" series ('76-'81), followed by the "10" series ('82-'91). That said, the 6600 shared most of the 5600's design with the exception of having slightly more power from the 256" engine. As far as I'm concerned, both the 4000 and 5000 were two of the very best tractors ever built by anyone, and that's easily supported by the vast numbers of them still in daily service. Not so much can be said for many others. The 5610 simply brought some more features and updates to a very solid tractor. One of the sorriest mistakes we ever made on our farm was trading our 5610. I still wish I had it back, and if I ever find it.....probably will. Still have, and always will have the 4000. Rod
