The engine assembly work was done at the non-union shop where my Father-inlaw works. The local economy is slow and a couple of guys have already been laid off. What would happen if I went in there screaming about the three total rebuilts where done wrong? he would have been canned or at leats laid off. Then there was the apprentice mechanic that turned the engine way past the red line. And that was after he dropped the engine and busted the windshield etc. They used the wrong oil pump bolt and siezed the crank. They used the wrong balancer shaft bearing and ruined the balancer shaft. They bolted on the cam gear without the bushing and had the timing advanced at least 20 degrees. They re-used the old rocker arm lock nuts and that was after grinding them for clearance. They re-used those ruined lock nuts again even after I supplied shorter push rods!!!
